Timing is the part people get wrong

If it happened in the last few days, the honest answer is that most tests cannot see it yet — see the window-period guide. That is not a reason to do nothing: if HIV exposure is possible and it has been under 72 hours, PEP is time-critical. Otherwise we will give you a date to come back and stop guessing.
