Every organism has a genetic sequence unique to it. NAAT — nucleic acid amplification testing, of which PCR is the best-known form — finds that sequence and copies it exponentially until it is detectable. That is why molecular testing can find an infection when there is very little organism present, and why it is the reference standard for chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomonas and M. genitalium.

How it works, in four steps

Step	What happens
1. Extract	Nucleic acid is isolated from your sample
2. Target	Primers bind to a sequence unique to the pathogen
3. Amplify	Cycles of copying — a small amount becomes a large, measurable amount
4. Detect	A fluorescent signal rises; the cycle at which it crosses threshold tells us it is there

Amplification is why a molecular test can detect an infection that a culture would miss entirely — and also why it can detect organisms that are present but not causing disease.

Multiplexing

A multiplex panel runs many targets on one sample simultaneously — which is how a single urine sample yields ten answers instead of two. That capability is what "high-complexity molecular laboratory" actually means, and it is why we are CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited for it.

Same day, start to finish. Sample by 1:00 PM → results at 4:30 PM → if treatment is clinically appropriate, a licensed physician in our partner network sees you between 4:30 and 6:00 PM, a few minutes away. That window is reserved for patients tested here, and your slot is held the moment we take your sample — the slot is held, not hunted. On your own, a same-day appointment is nearly impossible; at an urgent care, you wait in the queue. STAT: ~2 hours, sample in by 3:00 PM.
