How fast is a rapid STD test in Houston?
"Rapid" means different things depending on who runs the test. Here is what each option actually delivers.

A 2-hour STAT result is not a lighter test. It is the same PCR chemistry as our standard run; STAT only moves your sample to the front of the queue.
Is a fast result still an accurate one?
That depends on what the test measures, not on how many minutes it takes. A 15-minute rapid strip looks for your body's reaction to an infection (antibodies) or for a protein marker. Antibodies take weeks to appear, so a strip used a few days after exposure can read negative while the infection is there. PCR, a nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT), looks for the organism's genetic material directly, and CDC names NAAT as the preferred method for chlamydia and gonorrhea.

Which STD tests can be run in 2 hours?
The molecular (PCR) targets from urine or a swab can be run STAT. Blood tests (HIV and syphilis serology) follow their own workflows, and we will tell you honestly what can and cannot be compressed before you choose a rush run.

We are closed Saturday and Sunday, so same-day and STAT results are available Monday to Friday only.
How do you get a rapid STD test here today?
