Same-Day or 2-Hour STAT — Which Turnaround Do You Actually Need?

Sample by 1:00 PM → result at 4:30 PM. STAT: 2 hours, sample in by 3:00 PM.CLIA #45D2048957 · CAP #8722734 · Same-day results · Walk-ins welcome
Both exist because people arrive with different constraints. Standard same-day covers almost everyone: drop your sample by 1:00 PM and your result is ready at 4:30 PM, with a partner-network physician until 6:00 PM. STAT compresses that to two hours — for a flight, a procedure, or a decision that genuinely cannot wait until this evening.

Choosing between them
| Standard same-day | STAT (2 hours) | |
|---|---|---|
| Cutoff | Sample by 1:00 PM | Sample by 3:00 PM |
| Result | 4:30 PM the same day | ~2 hours after collection |
| Partner-network physician | 4:30–6:00 PM | Same day, subject to hours |
| Best for | Nearly everyone | Travel, a scheduled procedure, an unavoidable deadline |
There is no accuracy penalty for the fast option. The molecular chemistry is the same; STAT changes the queue, not the assay.
Why in-house matters more than the number of hours
Most Houston clinics do not run the test — they collect your sample and ship it out. That is where two to five days go. We are a CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited high-complexity molecular lab, and the instrument is in our building. Text us before you come and we will tell you which turnaround your situation needs.
Same day, start to finish. Sample by 1:00 PM → results at 4:30 PM → if treatment is clinically appropriate, a licensed physician in our partner network sees you between 4:30 and 6:00 PM, a few minutes away. That window is reserved for patients tested here, and your slot is held the moment we take your sample — the slot is held, not hunted. On your own, a same-day appointment is nearly impossible; at an urgent care, you wait in the queue. STAT: ~2 hours, sample in by 3:00 PM.
FAQ
- Do I need an appointment for STAT?
- No, but text us first so the run is scheduled. Walk-ins are welcome either way.
- Is STAT more expensive?
- It carries a premium for the expedited run. We do not publish prices; text us and we will tell you exactly what applies.
- Which tests can be run STAT?
- The molecular targets. Syphilis and HIV serology follow their own workflows — we will tell you honestly what can and cannot be compressed.
- What if I arrive at 4 PM?
- You can still be collected. Your result then lands the next morning — or you can come back before 1:00 PM tomorrow and be finished that same day.
